Because there is little direction in creating successful technology support programs for schools, we have provided four steps for you to complete to obtain and use your district's personalized technology action plan for improvement.

Steps in Profiling Your District or School (see note)

Step 1:

Provide a short demographic background for your district.

Step 2:

Answer a series of multiple-choice questions regarding your district's current technology support program. To prepare for the assessment, we recommend that you have the following information available:

  • Type of district equipment and software with an understanding of how purchasing decisions are made. This includes how donations and grants are handled and what equipment is supported and/or allowed in the district.

  • An understanding of how technical support is provided. This includes information about who provides the support, how are issues identified and escalated, staffing ratios, and what tools are used to provide technology support.

  • Knowledge of technology staffing, including number of staff, job functions, organizational structure, and compensation.

  • An understanding of professional development for end-users and technology support personnel.

  • Knowledge of electronic tools that are used (e.g., network sniffing) to create support efficiencies.

Step 3:

* Print your district's technology profile and action plan for improvement.

Step 4:

Use your district's custom profile and action plan to develop strategic goals for improving your school district's technology programs.

Important Note:

  • Enter only numeric data when specifying dollar figures and staff numbers (no letters, dashes, or dollar signs).
  • JavaScript must be enabled in your browser.
  • Be sure to print your results, which include the profile and action plan for improvement. There is no method to redisplay these results once your current TSI session has ended.
  • Cookies must be enabled in your browser..
